Gill Thorpe’s photos are quiet and kind, laced with genuine feelings. They make me feel lonely and content. It’s like a Sunday morning when everyone is out and active and I am just slowly greeting the sun. I was lucky enough to interview Miss Thorpe, so please enjoy and soak all this loveliness in. You can check out more photos on her flickr or blog.
When did your interest in photography begin?
Around 4 years ago when I was in a portfolio course I started developing my own black and white photographs. When I started the design course I’m in now I stopped taking photos. Last year I bought a Vivitar V335 and started to shoot in color. I haven’t been doing it that long and still have loads to learn!

What/who moves you?
Color, texture, patterns. I definitely go through phases of liking something too much.
The chance to do something different. Best friends.

Dream photography session… describe!
Just to be somewhere I never have before. Getting to travel to different countries I’ve never been and to document every little thing.

How would you describe your style?
I guess I don’t really have a certain style, I like to mess around with film and see what happens. I love catching light and color. Studying design has made me see things differently in regards to taking a picture.
