Dutch designer Leanie van der Vyver has written a thesis that begins;

“Just being human is not good enough anymore nor has it ever been. What is very clear is that people are not satisfied with what they were naturally born with.”

Building on this, she has creating some Scary Beautiful heels that gives the wearer the freedom to “become more than just yourself, more than human” as if technology gives us “complete power over our own image and abilities.” Which in many ways can be construed as an effective way to take control of your life, and in other ways can be seen as an arrogant stance towards playing with “God-like powers”. Either way, we’re captivated.
