Twitter wants to kill the password

Twitter is rolling out a new tool for developers called Digits that will allow users to log in using codes sent to their smartphones rather than a traditional password.

The service boasts that you’ll no longer need to remember complex passwords or usernames because Digits uses SMS to control access to your accounts.

Digits won’t post on your behalf, so what you say and where you say it is completely up to you and safeguards your account using Twitter’s infrastructure.
