Did you know that on average, an individual replaces their phone every two years. That’s absolutely crazy when you think about it, particularly when you take into account how much phones cost these days. So why do we replace phones so regularly?
Upgrades
Yes, every year a new phone comes out with cool upgrades whether it’s VR compatibility or 4K video, we want the latest tech in our hands. The only way to get it is to buy the new hand device. You have to make sure that you are keeping up with the latest releases and it’s not just about the new tech.
Fashion
Tech has definitely become part of the fashion trend. Just look at the iPhone. When people buy an iphone, they’re not really purchasing the phone due to the tech. There are plenty of phones that have close to the same capabilities. They’re paying for that little symbol that has become the epitome of tech fashion.
Easy As 1,2 3
Of course, perhaps the true reason for so many upgrades is that tech companies have made things easy. Buy a phone on a contract, they’ll give you a new one every other year without you even having to ask. You’ll get the latest hardware in your pocket. And what about that old one? They’ll sort that out for you too, quickly offering to recycle it, in some cases paying you for keeping it in good condition.
