Max Naylor is an artist who specializes in creating vivid dreamscapes using ink and oil paint.
His artwork is characterized by natural textures, such as gilled mushrooms scaling a tree trunk and the soft ripples of water. Naylor’s art pieces create a parallel universe that is free from reality, with otherworldly color palettes and unlikely lighting. He allows the fluid materials to dictate the contours of his compositions, and his landscapes emerge from his subconscious.
Naylor both works on large oil paintings and creates ink works quickly, keeping things fresh and exciting for him. He is based in Bristol and has a studio at Spike Island, as well as teaching at London’s Royal Drawing School.
